At Normal, we develop enterprise AI systems that can reason and make decisions alongside humans, even when there is uncertainty and risk — empowering computers and humans to accomplish complex tasks together that require weighing tradeoffs and dealing with real stakes.

We believe understanding of probabilities and reasoning is the primary blocker to effective AI agents for most of these problems. We are working from the ground-up to enable the ability for AI to deal with uncertainty, to know when to change our approach, to play out scenarios and make decisions, and generally to deal with the complicated, hard-to-predict and noisy nature of the real world:

  1. Enabling new experiences1, and solving thought-impossible engineering problems to engage with the real world
  2. Training large-scale probabilistic machine learning models2 that are capable of principled reasoning and using logical memory3
  3. Making these systems massively energy-efficient4 by rethinking how we train these models in hardware

Normal Computing was founded by former members of the Google Brain Team, Palantir, and X who unlocked AI for some of the largest-scale and most mission-critical production systems, and the industry leading ML frameworks for Probabilistic and Quantum AI.

Our north star: to enable a new industrial revolution through digital robots that can reason about the physical world. These full-stack AI systems will be welcomed as valuable and trustworthy thought partners to expert knowledge workers in our most critical industries. Along the way, our pioneering of hardware for AI and AI for hardware will lead to new insights and powerful tools – that will both unlock greater quality and massively drive down costs across AI and hardware together.
